VICOM main objective is to establish the basis for future deployment of virtual immersive communications and build a test-bed, “VICOM Campus”, to test technologies and components developed both within the project and in the research community. “VICOM Campus” is a space in which the user can experience services on immersive reality relevant to person-to-person and person-to-system communications. These are made accessible both through hand-held user terminals and through a set of interfaces scattered around the reference demonstration campus. ARTS people research activity mainly regards the study of the interconnection of two heterogeneous environments (the MANET and the UMTS system). The attention is put on the proposal and the study of techniques which can allow the effective interconnection and are able to both optimize the use of resources in each involved network segment (system perspective) and guarantee the QoS requested by the services (user perspective). |
