| Main Research Objectives: |
The research dealt with the transportation of multimedia applications in radio mobile networks with a broadband nature, thought for Personal Communications (PC). The reference scenario has been made up of a fixed infrastructure (ATM) with radio access capability, a terrestrial wireless segment with macro and micro coverage, and a network of satellite spot-beam overlapped to the terrestrial infrastructure. In this scenario the research consisted in defining a soft-QoS paradigm and the proposal of multi-bearer transport solutions for the air interfaces of the multi-tier coverage (microcell, macrocell and satellite). |
